Principal's News

Congratulations are in Order

On Thursday, June 8, Charu Gulati will be appointed as the principal of Tierra Linda for the 2023-24 school year. Ms. Gulati has been an educator for more than 20 years with experiences around the world.  She came to TL as a science teacher in 2018 and has served as assistant principal for the past two years. She continues to learn about students, leadership, and building a strong culture and climate and looks forward to working with all students, staff, parents, and community members.

After 15 years as a school leader, I am moving up to be the Director of Human Resources for the Sonoma Valley Unified School District. During my time as a principal, I have continued to learn  about DEIB, leading teams, building relationships, and creating spaces for innovation. This was put to the test during the past few years with online and hybrid learning due to the pandemic.  I look forward to this new role and serving in a different capacity that also helps me to grow professionally.  I will cherish the fond memories and will miss being at TL with students and staff. It is a wonderful middle school community.

Thanks to all who donated in May. We have made progress toward our consolidated fundraising goal, and now have $799,000 left to raise to fulfill our commitment for the 2023-24 school year. Your donations help fund key educator positions and programs in every school AND will support classroom teacher grants, assemblies, library book purchases, art programs, teacher appreciation, DEIB initiatives and community gatherings and school celebrations via your PTA. Every contribution is appreciated to help us achieve our $3.7 million goal. Our fiscal year ends June 30th. Please make a gift today to support San Carlos students next school year at https://scefkids.org/donate/.

We welcomed SCEF Auction Winners as Principal and Assistant Principal on Wednesday May 31st.

On Wednesday, May 31 our two 8th grade principals and WEB leaders helped us welcome incoming sixth graders. Our purpose was to share more about middle school and answer questions and to learn more a out our incoming group.  Students visited from Mariposa and created a name tag that used stickers to share their likes, interests, and style. They also chose an emoji to represent feelings about middle school. This helps with our planning for next year. Some students are happy, excited, nervous, or have questions.
