Principal’s News

What’s happening in classes?

7th graders have been wrapping up a project - experimenting with different chemicals to make a cold/hot pack.  After landing on their final product, they complete a public service announcement, edit it, and get endorsements from staff.  One group was able to raise the temperature of the water by 8 degrees using a chemical reaction.  Students worked together in groups of 3-4.  8th graders are finishing their self-propelled cars and testing them out to go the distance.  In English they are completing a Hidden Histories project and will be presenting in the next few weeks.  Students are able to use a variety of methods to share all they have learned.

June 2, Principal/Parent/Caregiver Roundtable Coffee @ 9:00 a.m. Attending or interested in joining? Fill out this form.  We would like to meet regularly next year in-person, on Zoom, or alternating in-person and on Zoom.  If you cannot make it next Friday, let us know what works best for you to attend in the future.

Rising Fifth Graders Visiting TL

On Wednesday, May 31, our rising fifth graders will be visiting TL. We are excited to welcome them into our Pack.  The Principal and Assistant Principal for the Day, Drew Byrnes and Ryan Wilkenson, will lead an assembly and facilitate activities so we will get to learn more about our students.  WEB Leaders will answer questions and take students to visit classrooms.

7th Graders-Potential Web Leaders

On Wednesday, May 31, Mr. Watts and Mr. Kneebone will lead an assembly with 7th grade students to tell them about the WEB, Where Everybody Belongs, Transition Program.  We are looking for 28 rising 8th graders to lead the program next year.  8th graders get the benefit of learning and practicing leadership skills and also help to build a climate of inclusion and belonging by connecting and supporting incoming students. 8th graders will need to be available for training the week before school starts.  Please make sure your child is available to attend these events before applying to be a WEB leader.

Here are the dates:

  • WEB Leader training: Monday, August 14th, 2023 (8:30AM-1:30 p.m./Gym)
  • 6th Grade Orientation: Monday August 21st, 2023 (8:30am-12:30 p.m.)
  • First day of school: Wednesday August 23, 2023

WEB Leaders meet weekly throughout the school year with Mr. Watts and Kneebone and teach and facilitate activities with 6th graders too.
