School Site Council Approves Emergency Response Plan

Our SSC meets six times a year on the second Thursday of the month from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in person or on Zoom.  If you would like to learn more about our school and the site plan, please join SSC by emailing Kristen Ugrin, [email protected] or Theresa Fox, [email protected].

Emergency Response and student release: Please keep your emergency contact information updated.

In the event of an emergency:

  • We can only release to those persons listed as an emergency contact
  • We will send updates through school messenger and our website
  • In case of evacuation, please check our school website or wait for a message. Do not call the school.
  • Releasing students after an emergency may take several hours
  • Student release is dependent on being cleared by law enforcement or the agency in charge at the time

Picture Make Up Day! October 21st

We will call students out of class by grade to take a retake photo. If you ordered pictures and wish to exchange them, students should bring photo packet with them and return to the photographer.

Participate in our 12th annual Halloween Candy Buy-Back!
Drop extra candy November 1-3rd, at your school’s office and it will be donated to Operation Gratitude and sent to our troops. Drs. Chang, Amin, and Kaher will donate $1 per pound of wrapped candy to SCEF.

Ballots are in the mail, and the field of school board candidates is amazing!
Watch the San Carlos School Board Candidate Forum held earlier this month, hosted by SCEF and PTA Coordinating Council, and moderated by League of Women Voters of San Mateo County.

All feedback will be brought back and considered by a Design Team to represent thinking across all interested groups, identify themes, and revise the objectives and directions regarding Teaching and Learning, Social Emotional Learning and Learning Spaces. Basketball Interest Forms!

We are excited for our 2022-23 season! Please note we will field at least 1 A and 1 B team for each grade for all of SCSD for BASKETBALL this year (see below for more information). If we can recruit additional parent coaches and there is enough interest as well as space, we will do our best to field 1 B team per school or 2 per grade. Please fill out this SCSD BASKETBALL Interest Form ASAP.

Once team selections have been made, we will send registration information to each player. In order to play you will need to register for the season for a price of $325 (scholarships are available for families in need). Your fee covers coaches, scorekeepers, referees, uniforms, insurance, equipment, and league fees. The school district receives no revenue from the sports programs.

The 7th/8th grade season will run from November 14-January 24. Playoffs will take place the week of January 19. The 6th grade season will run from February 6-March 20. Playoffs will take place the week of March 20.

High School Fair - Oct 19

Belmont’s Youth Advisory Committee is hosting a High School Fair for local middle schoolers and their families on Wednesday, October 19th from 6:30pm-8pm at the Twin Pines Community Center. We will have 10 local public and private high schools attending.

Community Foundation of San Carlos 2nd Annual "Stand United Against Hate' Poetry Slam!

In celebration of United Against Hate Week (Nov 13 - Nov 19), the Community Foundation of San Carlos and Devil's Canyon Brewing Co. is throwing its 2nd annual 'Stand United Against Hate' Poetry Slam! Stand in solidarity for UAH and download a 'San Carlos Stands United Against Hate' poster here!

Last year, we had talented and brave community members bring their craft and whole selves into the poetry slam to share their stories of what it means to stand united against hate. It was magical to see the power of community building and we hope you join us this year to do the same! Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day Poster Contest

Students in all grades are encouraged to submit their original artwork inspired by Ruby Bridges, the six year old who became a symbol of courage, bravery, and social justice during the civil rights movement.
Submit your poster by October 25. Winning entries will be shared with schools countywide to promote Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day on November 14!

State-Subsidized Preschool Spaces Now Available at Arundel Elementary

The San Carlos Early Learning Center has space available in our new, part-day, California State Preschool Program (CSPP) class at Arundel from 9:00 am-12:00 pm. Student tuition may be covered for families that qualify, based on income.

San Carlos United Soccer Club Tryouts

San Carlos United will be holding tryouts in November for AYSO players and players not currently playing competitive club soccer for the upcoming Spring 2023 season.

Free COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics

SMCOE and San Mateo County Health are hosting two COVID-19 vaccination clinics at the Anne Campbell Center, 65 Tower Road, San Mateo. Vaccinations are available for children (3 and older) and adults. Learn more English and Spanish.

COVID Reminders & Testing Options

If your child is experiencing symptoms, please keep them home and give them a rapid antigen test. Staying home when sick can lower the risk of spreading infectious diseases to other people and testing remains a key mitigation layer to detect and curb transmission of COVID-19.  If your child tests positive for COVID-19 or your household is in need of additional test kits, please contact your school site as soon as possible.
