Responding to Emergency Situations
SCSD and all districts in San Mateo County use The Big 5 Emergency Emergency Guidelines. Administrators are regularly trained on how to practice for emergencies with an equitable, trauma-informed lens. Staff participate in training and drills on a regular basis and are updated when changes occur.
Notes about Student Schedules:
- Students have a Zero period (7th and 8th graders with two electives) and six period day during the first week of school.
- Block schedule on Wednesday and Thursday starts the week of August 29 and will be the typical routine.
- 6th graders have PE and PE opposite on an A/B schedule for second period. PE is not optional and students must have 200 minutes every 10 days in sixth grade and 400 minutes every 10 days in 7th and 8th grade. PE opposite is a wheel with a different class each trimester for all sixth graders.
- On the first day of school sixth graders should go to their A class for second period
- T1, T2, and T3 means trimester 1, trimester 2, and trimester 3. Sixth graders should go to their trimester 1 class.
- S1 and S2 means semester 1 and semester 2. On the first day of school students that have S1 should go to their semester 1 class.
- Staff will help students on the first day and the first week of school find their classes and understand their schedule, especially in sixth grade. WEB leaders will also help students understand their schedules during Orientation on Aug. 22.
- Here is our Consolidated bell schedule for the school year. Due to minimum days during Conference week, before Winter Break and the last week of school, the weekly schedule changes.

SamTrans Bus Schedule Change
Effective August 7, 2022, SamTrans will implement changes to many of its school-oriented routes. These upcoming school-oriented route changes will improve efficiency while maintaining service for many students who rely on SamTrans to get to school. In addition to routing changes, there will also be schedule adjustments to many routes to respond to changing school bell schedules for the 2022/23 school year. Check the SamTrans website for more information.
Alternative Forms of Transportation
- Consider picking one day a week (or more) to walk or bike your young children to school or have your older student walk, bike or bus to school. Pick a day where you are least stressed and can support students as they learn a new routine. If everyone who drove their kids to school took alternative methods of transportation just one day a week, there would be 20% fewer cars around the schools.
- Connect with neighbors. Kids can walk and bike independently to school much younger if there is a group. Parents can trade off walking the group of younger kids so that it doesn't have to be a challenge every morning.
- If you have to drive, park a few blocks away to drop off your student or to walk them in. This reduces traffic density at our school entrances.

Tierra Linda and Mariposa PTA
We have an active volunteer group, Parent Teachers Association, PTA. We are going for 100% membership this year and invite everyone to join here. We want to thank our PTA volunteers for supporting us in starting school by filling in the Gaga pit with tan bark and proving lunch and snack at our Sixth Grade WEB Orientation. PTA has monthly meetings and event throughout the school year. More information coming soon and at Back-to-School Night. We are grateful that PTA and SCEF have joined their fundraising efforts to make it more equitable for all schools and to streamline the process for donors.
Here is our PTA General meeting schedule.

EZ Meal Application
In addition to signing up for free meals, we ask that each family fill out the EZ Meal Application to benefit your family, school, and community even if you do not believe you will qualify based on your income. Completing this form helps your school receive more funding to support your child’s learning environment. The application is used to calculate school funding levels from the state and federal level.
