TL Students Walkout to Show Support and Leadership
On Thursday during Advisory, TL students planned a walkout to the field to show support for the community of Uvalde, Texas and all those impacted by gun violence. We appreciate our student leadership and the guidance of teachers, staff, and Ms. Gulati for making this a safe event.
At TL, building community and relationships is the focus, so we can create a safe, nurturing learning environment. We are here to help. Please reach out to staff, our school counselor Ms. Garlick, teachers, or administrators if your child is in need of support.
The Last Two Weeks of School
Students should be checking grades in Illuminate and working with teachers to complete and turn in all work by June 8. We have much to celebrate at the end of the school year. The last day of school is a minimum day on June 9 with 1:00 p.m. dismissal. The first day of school next year is August 24.
8th Grade Promotion and Celebration/Dance
On June 8th, 8th graders will meet in the Learning Commons at 3:15 p.m. to put on a maroon gown and line up for the Promotion Ceremony. Students can wear clothes that are comfortable and suitable for the hot weather. The Promotion Ceremony is all outside on the field. Students will walk on the grass and sit in chairs on the field. For the Promotion Dance/Celebration, students can wear comfy, casual, or dress clothes. They will need to stay at TL from 8:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. and this event is supervised by staff, teachers, and administrators. We are grateful for our 8th grade parent Promotion Committee for all the fun surprises they have planned. More specific details about the Great America field trip will go out this week to 8th graders and their families.
TL/Mariposa PTA News
Looking ahead, we are excited to announce that we are partnering with the San Carlos Education Foundation to streamline and simplify fundraising across the district.
Beginning next school year, all fundraising will be led by the capable team at SCEF. PTAs will not hold separate fundraising drives as we have in the past. This efficient new model provides clarity and simplicity to donors. At the same time, it frees up the PTA to focus on our core community building mission.
This Fall, the annual SCEF suggested donation will increase to include funding for PTA budgets. While fundraising messages will come directly from SCEF, your donations will support the activities you have come to expect from your PTA, in addition to the educators and programs that SCEF has always funded.
Once again, thank you! We appreciate your continued support. Stay tuned over the summer for more information about SCEF's expanded role in supporting our students and our schools.
8th Grade Promotion Festivities-Don't Forget your donation or scholarship request
San Carlos Education Foundation (SCEF)
In a year of seeking a “new normal” YOU helped us support students at every San Carlos public school. Thank you for believing in SCEF and showing up for our students by participating in our 2nd annual Read-A-Thon, Virtual Gala and online auction and the Make It Happen in May campaign. You donated, employers matched, community members pitched-in, local businesses sponsored and new developments and companies committed to sustain the public schools in San Carlos.
We appreciate every single contribution that gets us closer to our $3.2 million goal. Please check the draft donor roll to review your donations to SCEF this year (fiscal year ending 6/30/2022) and if there are any errors or omissions please let Scott Cleaveland know at [email protected]. You can still make a gift to support the 2022-23 school year at https://scefkids.org/donate/.
