Events at TL to Show Off Our Learning
As we return from Spring Break, we are getting ready to finish the year and look forward to events in May including a Band and Orchestra Concert and Open House. Open House will be May 17, time TBD.  Students will highlight and share one artifact from different subjects over the past year. On May 25 our Band and Orchestra will be having a live, in-person concert and wow do they sound amazing.

CAASPP-Smarter Balanced Summative Assessment
Students will be participating in standardized testing, CAASPP or SBAC. These are summative tests that have a computer adaptive portion and performance task portion.  Students in grades 3-8 take English Language Arts and Math and students in grades 5 and 8 take CAST-Science as well.  The assessments will be administered at school and they are all taken online.  We will begin with CAST for 8th graders on April 26 and ELA and Math will begin May 4.  Students should make every effort to be at school on time unless they are ill.  We will have time to administer a make up test for students who are absent.
For More information, here is a video from CAASPP:
The Understanding the Smarter Balanced Summative Assessment Link to external site video describes the Smarter Balanced summative assessment, two parts of the summative assessment, why it is a valuable component of every student's educational journey, and what supports are available to make it accessible for test-takers.

It's Time to Complete Your Annual Back-To-School InfoSnap Forms - Extended Deadline - Friday, April 8

If you currently have a 6th grader or 7th grader, please complete this process for next year.  If your child is not returning to TL, email Cori Carpenter, [email protected].
Each spring, we ask all families to complete their annual Back-To-School student information forms through PowerSchool (InfoSnap) online. This allows families to update/add emergency contact information, update health records (allergy or medical considerations), and give permissions, etc.

Your timely completion of this process will assist us in having the most accurate numbers for returning students for the 2022-23 school year, which is directly tied to the SCSD budget and will allow the District in planning for staffing needs more effectively.

The week of March 21, you should have received an email from [email protected] with the Subject Line: San Carlos School District - Online Student Information Forms (2022-2023) Instructions that will provide you with specific directions on how to complete the registration process online, including a link to access the InfoSnap portal, as well as a special ID number for your student, referred to as the “InfoSnap Code."

We are extending the deadline to complete your InfoSnap forms to Friday, April 8. Please complete your student registration for fall 2022 ASAP. If you are not planning to return to our district next year, please notify your school office as soon as possible.

We are watching enrollment closely to properly prepare for next year. Thank you for your assistance!
