August 29th Weekly News

Principal's News

Last week was our first typical week.  This year we changed our bell schedule to support a restorative return to school:

  • 5 minute passing periods with time to take a mask break, get a drink and use the restroom.
  • 75 minute block periods on Wednesday and Thursday instead of 87 minutes.
  • 30 minute lunch every Wednesday with lunch service.
  • 35 minute lunch every Thursday to allow for a longer break and more time to play and socialize.
  • Advisory class every Thursday for Social Emotional Learning, community building, self-awareness, and goal setting.
  • Pack Time every Thursday so ASB/Leadership and WEB (8th grade leaders and 6th graders) has dedicated time to meet. Also students have time for work completion, collaboration on projects, and support from teachers.

On Wednesday, Sept. 1 at 6:00 p.m., we will have Back to School Night in person at Tierra Linda.  Here is the BTSN Bell Schedule. Parents/guardians will have the opportunity to follow their child’s schedule and visit classrooms.  Students brought home a schedule with classroom assignments last Thursday.

  • PE classes will meet in the Learning Commons
  • 6th grade Maker’s Space meets in Room 21
  • We have a minimum day on Friday, Sept. 3. Here is the student Bell Schedule for next week.

Please send your child with a refillable water bottle.  The drinking fountains are closed and the water refilling stations are open.

TLM PTA News

On behalf of PTA, welcome back to school! TLM PTA is committed to supporting all members of our school community in having a robust and rewarding year.

Join the PTA!

This year, your support of the PTA will help us create the campus environment that all our kids have missed out on last year. We are working hard to focus our efforts on programs and activities that will make a positive difference for the kids in our school and enhance their educational experience. OUR GOAL IS TO RAISE $65,000 to help us do this and our ask is $250 per family. Your financial support, at whatever level your family is able to give, helps ensure we have the funds required to continue to support Classrooms and Teachers, Community Building Events, Art and Special Programs, and Advocacy efforts across our district and throughout the state.

Look for more information next week about the t-shirt design for this year's fundraising campaign. While we are not able to hold our traditional Color Run fundraising event due to ever changing Covid restrictions, we look forward to hosting a community event later in the year to celebrate our fundraising success!
