Oct. 1 at 3:30 p.m. School Site Council Meeting
Oct. 1 at 3:00 p.m. American Math Contest Session #1 for students who signed up to compete
Oct. 5-9 Conference Week

Conference Format and information - Conference Week Bell Schedule Attached Below
This year teachers will hold individual conferences for those students that need support with accessing course content, assignments or learning and engagement.  Students should attend conferences.  Teachers and Ms. Carpenter will reach out to set up conferences and they may happen before, during and after Conference Week. The purpose of the conference is to determine what the student is finding challenging, do some troubleshooting, and determine how we can support. Conferences are an opportunity for parents, students, and teachers to come together to create a plan of action to support learning. Student involvement will be an integral part of the conference.

Eighth grade teachers are also planning a group conference time where they will be able to share information about the final year of middle school and strategies to help prepare for the transition to high school.  There is also an upcoming meeting for students who will be attending Carlmont, see below.

If you would like to request to meet with your child's teacher(s), please send an email to the specific teacher(s).  Teachers will coordinate a time to meet.  Reach out with questions or concerns so teachers are able to support during office hours.

American Math Contest
TL will be signing up to compete in the American Math Contest.  Interested students filled out the google form that math teachers sent through google classroom.  Students need to participate in 2/4 preparation sessions happening on Thursdays in Oct at 3:00 p.m.  For more information, check the site, AMC 8.  If your child did not sign up and would like to participate, check their math google classroom or ask the teacher.  The date of the contest is November 10 and TL will compete online.  Mr. De is the teacher advisor.  We will also work on getting together a team that competes in Math counts on Feb. 5.  More details coming soon.

If you wish to report any incident(s) of bullying/harassment/intimidation/discrimination, please contact your school principal or school staff. You may also use the SCSD Bullying Incident Report Form to report a conflict, bullying, or other inappropriate behavior. Students may fill this out for their own incident or for someone else to serve as an ally.

School Pictures are Here!
If you took your school picture on Sept. 11th, the pictures are here in the school office and ready for pick up.  The office is open daily from 8:00-3:00 p.m.

Sincerely,

Kristen Ugrin, Principal

San Carlos Education Foundation SCEF

Autumn is here, and the school year is well on its way! We want to appreciate YOU--the parents. You are partnering with our teachers and staff in a very different way this year to make school happen. We want to say THANK YOU to our amazing and resilient teachers, staff and administrators. They could not do what they are doing without YOUR support. SCEF is constantly exploring ways we can impact and support the students and families in our schools.

We know that our fundraising makes a huge difference in what we are able to help our district provide for the children of San Carlos public schools. Your donations to SCEF last year will enable us to grant over $3.3 million to support San Carlos public schools. These grants enable the School District to purchase hundreds of new devices for students making progress to the goal of achieving a 1:1 device to student ratio. Grants will also support Ed-tech applications for online learning and management systems, smaller K-3 class sizes, professional development in distance learning for teachers, music programs including an instrument replacement fund, middle school electives, mental health/social emotional learning staff, principal funds to support individual school site needs and more. Your contributions make a real difference for our students during this challenging school year. Thank you!
