Dear TL Families:
At this time, most students have been able to check in and get onto Google Classroom for learning and assignments. Our biggest challenge is differentiating learning. We realize that for some students there is way too much work and they are unable to keep up. For others, they would like more to do at home. We are all adjusting to this new type of learning and assure your kids that we are flexible on this journey especially with due dates. We want to acknowledge all stakeholders for the quick response and willingness to embrace this challenge. I want to reassure all students and families that we are just asking you do your best to check in and try and complete some of the assignments. Students should reach out to teachers via email with questions or concerns. Teachers are getting a lot of email right now, so give them about 24 hours to respond and do not expect a response over the weekend. Students can also use Google Classroom to communicate with teachers.
Technology and webinars- We are still working to figure all of this out. At this time, students are unable to access Zoom on their school accounts and Google hangout meet presents some management challenges. Administrators are in meetings and collaborating around options and also problem solving many issues that may come up. We have been able to get devices to students that need them. If your child needs a device, please email Cori Carpenter, [email protected]. Devices are limited and we can only give one per family. If device access is impacting your child's ability to complete work, email teachers to let them know. Please monitor your students online and note that any unrelated or inappropriate comments in Classroom can result in them being muted. We will notify student. Students can still engage and learn if the teacher mutes comments.
There are many resources on our Digital Learning Portal, including Counselors Corner. All of us are missing the daily contact with teachers, staff, students, friends and family and we are working on ways to connect.
We are encouraging students to log in for attendance every day and email teachers with questions. I am also looking into a way to send these notices to students as well. At this time I don't have a contact list for TL students.
Take care,
Kristen Ugrin
