Coed Volleyball Intramurals Starting Soon
Hello 5th-8th Grade Families,
I'm pleased to announce that our final intramural sports season of the year is about to begin! Our Spring Intramural Volleyball season provides San Carlos students in grades 5-8 an opportunity to participate in organized sports activities after school on Thursdays.
We have designed a 10-week program that is open to players of all levels - those who are experienced at a high level and those who have never played an organized sport. While there will be no cuts and playing time will be shared evenly, we will have 2-4 divisions (based on signups in each grade and preferences indicated on the forms). Teams will play against other SCSD teams for fun.
Coaches will manage practices and games to match up players so that each player is appropriately challenged. We anticipate that this program will provide a fun introduction to the sport and will prepare students for the upcoming Art David Athletic League (ADAL) seasons. (Girls' league volleyball takes place next Fall 2020, and Boys' league volleyball takes place in the Spring, 2021.)
Coaches from our ADAL teams will also be leading this program. Registration will open February 12 and the cost will be $195, which covers a coach, scorekeepers, referees, insurance, equipment, scheduling, and administration of the program. The season will span over the months of March, April, and May beginning March 5 and ending May 21, for a total of ten events on the following dates:
March 5, 12, 19, 26
April 9, 16, 23, 30
May 14, 21
Please complete this INTEREST FORM so we can plan for the correct configuration of the teams. Somewhere around Thursday, February 27th we will review the Interest Forms and send out an email with more detailed season information such as times, locations, registration, grade divisions, etc. By then, we should also know the schedules for the league sports will be and we can create pro-rated vouchers for those who may be interested in doing a Spring League sport AND Intramurals just in case Thursday volleyball practices conflict with tennis, soccer, or track.
